Key Individual Allies

ACV works with Southeast Louisiana Law Legal Services (SLLS).  We come together to work on how best to address public policy issues harmful to low income residents, both impacting public policy and increasing low income participation.

Light City Church & Reverend Leonard Lucas Jr.,  have been an invaluable ally to our Equity in Rebuilding campaign by providing us free meeting space, free community office space for volunteers, and collaboration our various actions and meetings around this important issue.  In addition, A Community Voice & Light City Church have campaigned and won a partnership with the New Orleans Recreation Department (NORD) for a Teen Camp in the Lower 9th Ward this summer.

Additional churches that help support our local neighborhood groups with free meeting space and outreach support include the following:  St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, New Salem Baptist Church, Asia Baptist Church, New Glory Land Baptist Church, Holy Angels, and Mount Zion.

In Lake Charles, the City of Lake Charles and Mayor Randy Roach have been a strong ally in supporting our affordable housing programs by providing us free meeting space at City Council Chambers at City Hall and supporting our workshops with informational speakers. Our programs are also supported with help from Southwest Louisiana Law Center (SWLC) which provides free credit counseling services to our members.

Sheriff Marlin Gusman supports our volunteer projects in the community from grass cutting to providing neighborhood safety.
